A passenger plane of Pakistan International Airlines coming from Ahur crashed near Karachi Airport.
According to Express News, a PIA passenger plane was coming from Lahore to Karachi when it crashed in a residential colony of Model Town area adjacent to the airport shortly before landing. The plane crash also destroyed several houses, causing a stampede in the area.
The crashed flight was operated exclusively on the occasion of Eid. The flight took off at 1:10 pm and reached Karachi on time. However, the flight lost contact with the control room just moments before landing.
The plane crashed at 2:37 p.m.
According to civil aviation sources, the plane lost contact with the air control radar at 2:37 a.m. and later Captain Sajjad Gul informed the air control tower about the malfunction in the landing gear of the plane.

According to a PIA spokesman, the plane was not very old and was about 10 to 11 years old and was fully maintained, so it would be premature to say anything about a technical glitch.
PIA emergency call center active
According to a PIA spokesperson, PIA's emergency call center has been activated and PIA's operational employees have been called on duty while information will be shared with the media as soon as it arrives.

Civil Aviation has confirmed the crash of PIA's Airbus A320. The plane was carrying 99 passengers and eight crew members. According to sources, the captain of the plane is Sajjad Gul and the crew includes Usman Azam, Farid Ahmed, Abdul Qayyum Ashraf, Malik Irfan Rafiq, Asma and Madiha Iram.

An airhostess named Madiha Iram was supposed to go on duty in the plane but at the same time Madiha Iram was stopped by changing the duty roster. Airhostess Anam Maqsood was sent in the plane instead of Madiha Iram. Anam Maqsood also died in the unfortunate plane.
Emergency imposed in hospitals
After the accident, a heavy contingent of Rangers and police reached the spot and cordoned off the area while fire brigade personnel were also present to put out the fire. Rescue operation is underway at the spot and bodies are being exhumed. Relief efforts are hampered by the rush.
The provincial health minister declared an emergency in Karachi hospitals after the plane crash and directed that there should be no delay in the treatment of the injured.
DG ISPR said that Army Quick Reaction Force and Pakistan Rangers have reached Sindh, Army Quick Reaction Force and Pakistan Rangers Sindh youth have reached the spot who will assist the civil administration in relief activities.
President, Prime Minister and Army Chief express regret
President Arif Ali, Prime Minister Imran Khan and Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa have expressed their sorrow over the plane crash and offered condolences to the affected families.
Dr. Arif Alvi expressed his sorrow over the loss of precious human lives in the accident and expressed his heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the bereaved family while praying for the high status of those killed in the accident and speedy recovery of the injured.
